St. Maoicethair who died in 636 AD founded a monastery at Kilmalkeder, the present church was built in the 12th Century with the chancel extended in 1200 AD. The church is a fine example of Irish Romanesque architecture introduced from England and the Continent in the 12th Century. It does also contain some purely Irish design such as the “antae”-stone projections on the end of the church that carried the bargeboards of the roof.  This is Belleek’s 26th Edition Annual Christmas ornament #4112. It was made in Ireland! This ornament is 2.25″ wide, 2.25″ tall and 1.75″ deep.  Boxed.
