This 17″ x 7″ cross is a replica of a 11 foot High Cross is found at Kells Monastery which was founded by St. Collmcille. The South Cross was created early in the 9th century. Starting at the bottom find two Irish storytellers sitting facing each other with their legs entwined and pulling their beards as a sign expressing that their stories were true and accurate. Next comes a depiction of the Crucifixion. On the head of the cross is Christ in majesty surrounded by the Four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. For hanging indoors or outdoors.
