Ogham writing is Ireland’s Ancient script that can be found inscribed on standing stones called ‘Menhirs’ and in sacred places throughout her rural landscape. These standing stones are traced back to Ireland’s Bronze Age past. The line inscriptions or Ogham runes carved on these stones were the work of the Iron Age Irish Druids who believed in the magical powers of their writing. Written from the bottom to the top of a central line this 20 linear character alphabet symbolized the magical world of sounds. They represent an ancient spiritual connection with the earth.
